| Hotel Klaustur Iceland is a 3 star hotel located mid-way between Myrdalsjokull and the largest glacier in Europe - Vatnajokull (260 km from Reykjavik city centre). The hotel is situated in one of the most beautiful areas of Iceland, a short distance from Skaftafell national park, Vatnajokull and within easy reach of the powerful and mysterious Lakagigar area. The hotel is in the village of Kirkjubaejarklaustur surrounded by a varied and beautiful natural landscape. This South Eastern corner of Iceland is exceptionally mild - statistically proven to have one of the highest average temperatures in Iceland. Hotel Klaustur has 57 rooms on two floors. 36 standard rooms, of which 10 are single, 20 superior and one suite. All rooms are equipped with TV (local station) and bathtub or shower. The rooms on first floor only have showers. The hotel's pleasant restaurant seats as many as 150 people and there are smaller rooms in the hotel and a large conference room 30 meters from the hotel that is well suited for meetings, private parties and other gatherings. The swimming pool at Hotel Klaustur is open all summer and there is a golf course only 5 km from the hotel. There are many interesting and beautiful places to visit and near the village. Guided day trips are offered during summer time to the Lakagigar craters and to Nupsstaoir Woods. Skaftafell National Park is only about an hour's drive away (70 km) and Jokulsarlon on the Breidamerkur Sands about a two hours drive (120 km) away.
